Realized souls transformed their own bodies into kshetras (pilgrim centers). Having experienced the Uttama Purusha (Supreme Lord) within their own body, they then brought this kshetra to the outside world too in the form of Teertha-Kshetras as is evident in the sayings such as Kaashee Kshetram Shareeram.
