The Kumkum and the flowers from the icon of Goddess are worn by the devotees as prasaada (gracious gift) on the forehead and head (the part signifying the thinking faculty) respectively. The prasaada from the person of the deity on coming in contact with our head makes the thoughts emanating from there auspicious.
