There are definite procedures to be followed in the construction of temples. In some temples only the idol of the main deity would be installed. In other places, it is found that all aspects involving the four Purushaarthas (cardinal principles of Life) are included. Notice that in the human body too, the head, stomach and the intestine all have a definite proportion and a specific location. In the same way, even in temple architecture, there are definite rules regarding the direction and placement of the deities.
