Nectarine Nuggets of Mahaaguru - 490

Those who visualize only the body and the senses and indulge in them alone would formulate Śāstra̅s accordingly. When the body is the sole consideration, this may be the Śāstra: "Bhasmibhu̅tasya déhasya punarāgamanam kutaḥ? Yāvajji̅vam sukham ji̅vet, ṛnam kṛtvā ghṛtam pibét" [When the body has been turned into ashes where is the question of its return? Be merry as long as you live; borrow ghee and drink it merrily]
But when questions such as "Is the sensual pleasure alone the be-all and end-all of life? Is there nothing beyond this?" are asked and pondered deeply, accepting the existence of an Ātman, surpassing this body, becomes inevitable. Based on this vision and the consequent design of life, the Śāstra that gets evolved would obviously be different. This way, depending on the view and vision of the people of different Nations, their Śāstra̅s also would be varied and be limited.
