While light has the potentiality to make things visible, darkness has an equal proficiency to hide things. While beings which like to be in light exist, there are beings which delight to remain in darkness. Guru, Śāstras would work only for the most deserving pupil who makes the statement "let the Śāstras throw Light (the light of Vijnana) to me" and certainly not with others.
