The statement "fire burns" need not be accepted merely on referring to a book. People may call something as "this is fire". Then, such should be your firm stand that "I will touch it; if it burns my fingers I will accept it as fire. If it does not, then I will say 'it is not fire'". However, the word 'fire' by itself cannot burn anything. Therefore, only when all the four -the word, the object referred to, the experiment and its experience-are taken in totality, does science truly evolve.
