The Mula vigraha (Chief Idol in the altar) is never taken in a procession. It remains in the Sanctum Sanctorum only. The festive procession is only for the Utsava-murty which bears and represents the innate nature of the Mula-murty. The Utsavamurty may go round the entire town in procession but ultimately it does get back to its starting point namely the Sanctum. In the same way, our conduct which represents the state of mind filled with the sentiments of the Lord alone is utsava. It is again the jingling, celebrating and mixing all our activities in Life with His supreme thoughts is Utsava.
