Life is double-faced like the bird called the 'Gaṇḍa- Beruṇḍa'; one face is called Gaṇḍa and the other Beruṇḍa. This extra-ordinary bird has the capability to fly both in the terrestrial and celestial spheres. In this life too, although the body is one, there exist two path-ways in it; one is Pravṛtti (mundane aspects) and the other Nivṛtti (spiritual aspects). Our aim should be to structure a four-facetted fence– Caturbhadra-which is consistent with the requirements of both of these aspects. All our trials and tribulations must be to achieve this end in our life.
