It is true that every animal or insect is trying its best for its livelihood. The human being too struggles for the pleasures of this terrestrial life; however, there does exist a need for an effort for his spiritual life too. Leading a life by supplying the various types of 'food' for pacifying the senses and being contended based on the sensual pleasures is what constitutes the worldly or outer life. However there are many noble souls who have gone further by leading a life taking refuge in the Ātman; theirs constitute the spiritual or inner life.
